Personal profile

Research profile

I am associate professor in social and personality psychology. I am primarily interested in the relationship between people, psychological phenomena - subjectivity, identity, emotions, etc. - and the contexts in which we exist and which shape us (society, culture, history, technology, etc.). My research is qualitative and draws on methods such as participant observation and interviews. Currently, I am involved in two research projects:

  • PLACES: Psychopathology in Ecosocial Niches (DFF2 grant with Svend Brinkmann, Peter Clement Lund, and Sebastian Tobias-Renstrøm). The project uses qualitative methods to investigate how people with ADHD and/or anxiety experience the social, cultural, and contextual contexts in which they live.
  • CAS: Can AI solve the mental health crisis? (Carlsberg Semper Ardens grant) This project - starting in November 2023 - will use qualitative methods to examine how artificial intelligence is developed and used to monitor and diagnose mental disorders, as well as how it is used for therapeutic purposes (e.g., via chatbots).
