Jakob Zinck Thellufsen is an Associate Professor in Energy Systems Analysis at Aalborg University. He works with the development of energy systems analysis tools, linking Smart Energy Systems analysis across different regional level. His main research areas concern energy systems analysis, district heating, CCUS, energy savings and the integration of various parts of the energy systems through Smart Energy Systems.

Jakob Zinck Thellufsen is one of the main developers of the advanced energy system analysis tool EnergyPLAN, which has over 15,000 users and has been applied to energy modelling worldwide. He has developed a number of add on tools and features included in the current releases of EnergyPLAN.

Jakob Zinck Thellufsen holds a PhD from Aalborg University in Contextual Aspects of Smart City Energy Systems Analysis (2017).

He has experience in both managing projects and work packages in different research projects both on EU and Danish level.

Jakob Zinck Thellufsen currently serves as Head of Section within the Deparment of Planning.
